Water Sports in North Dock, Llanelli
The creation of a watersports centre was a huge undertaking, for over 2 million tons of silt had to be removed from the old North Dock. To make it viable, it even had to have a gigantic "pond liner" to keep the water in! At the moment the "Water Ball" seems to be the most popular tourist attraction - a giant hamster ball that floats on the water! Eight pedaloes have also recently been imported from Canada join the walk on water hamster spheres as an attraction on the body of water that is six acres of confined water at Llanelli’s North Dock.
It is the latest attraction to Llanelli Waterside the main access of Llanelli’s Millennium Coastal park that pulls in a million visitors a year. The aim is for it to become a regional centre for canoeing and other water sports.
Watersports such as Kayaking, Canoeing, Raft Building and Bellboating are available all with a qualified and experienced instructor. Kayaking and Canoeing is available from a novice level to a two star level and the courses run from an hour to half a day and one day . The company runs a self-rescue to improve your safty on the water. Kayaking runs in the Llanelli and gower & the neath canals, with an introduction into the art of paddling a one person Kayak. Canoeing is available in courses from a solo to a tandem and up to a three person Canoe.
